Our sons have flown the nest and so we have some lovely freshly decorated bedrooms, new shared kitchen and shared shower room for you to spend an ideal time in the cozy fishing village of Akranes. We have converted the basement/ground floor into a fully functional apartment which has it's own private entrance. In this house we have 3 rooms in total, The Orange and Turquoise rooms with 2 single beds and the Silver Room with 1 single bed & a double sofa-bed. We have added another 2 rooms in a separate building, the Gold Room (with Queen size double bed) and the Platinum Room (with King size double bed). This house has a new shared kitchen and a shared bathroom. Please be aware that we have 2 buildings so if you are a group and want to stay in the same house, then you can either be with the rooms: Orange/Turquoise/Silver or the Gold/Platinum.

Whilst every effort is made to fulfill your requests, please email or phone us before you proceed with the booking if any special requirements are required,
If any amendments are required to your booking simply e-mail us at email@example.com or call +354-611-0460. Should you change the dates, number of guests or the number of nights you will be staying, then the rates are subject to change.
Car parking is at owner’s risk. Parking is free on site during the time of your stay*. At the main house Skagabraut 25 you may park in the driveway or on the street in front of the house. PLEASE NOTE if parked on the street you should be facing the direction of traffic. Parking in the opposite direction will incur a parking ticket from the local police. At Akurgerði then we have a private spot at the side of the building under the long narrow window. Please don't park more forward than that as that is the neighbours spot. It is very important not to park further into the allyway were there is a big car park as this is private and will upset the neighbour who owns it.
Smoking is forbidden inside Akranes Rooms. If you do smoke inside Akranes Rooms then you will be asked to vacate immediately.
All children under 18 months are welcome to stay free of charge when using existing bedding. There are baby cots available in the rooms upon request.
Pets are usually not allowed to stay at Akranes Rooms. If there is an urgent need, please contact us and we will see what we can arrange. We have a dog Freyja. We keep her upstairs in our private part of the house, but sometimes Freyja will come and visit you downstairs if the door is kept open.
For offline bookings a credit card number, expiry date, security code (on the reverse of the card), name on the card and the address where the card is registered are necessary to confirm the booking.
Rooms are available to check in from 4:30pm on the date of your arrival. However, you may arrive earlier at Akranes Rooms to drop off you luggage and park your car if you wish. Akranes Rooms does not have 24 hours check-in, please note that the latest possible check in time is 11:00pm unless you make a special request. We understand that some flights get in in the wee small hours of the morning and will accommodate you, but you must let us know your estimated time of arrival if after 11pm.
Checkout time is at 12 noon. so we can prepare our facilities for incoming guests.
We are a family-run business and, just like all families, we have other domestic, social and leisure responsibilities and interests.
Many of these activities take place away from the guest house; that is why timed appointments are essential for non-standard check-in times.
Akranes Rooms guest house is privately owned and operated. Management reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. We will not be responsible for guest accidents or injury, or for the loss of money, jewelry, or valuables of any kind.
Any damages, stolen items, or broken items occurring during the stay will be the full financial responsibility of the guest, including anyone traveling with the guest. Any special clean-up resulting in damages caused by the guests will be charged to the credit card. Charges may need to be applied after guest departure as deemed necessary by the Owner/Innkeeper. Robe replacement cost is 8,000Isk and towel replacement cost is 1,800Isk.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside or near open windows and doors of the premises.
Please respect the other guests and clean up after yourself promptly in the shared areas of the kitchen, bathroom and hallways.
Most houses in Iceland have hot geothermal water flowing directly into their houses, so the water coming from the hot water taps and shower smells of sulfur. If this is your first time in Iceland you might not realize that the smell is coming from the water. We no control over the smell of sulfur and rest assured it is not due to bad plumbing. Thankfully after a few days in Iceland you begin to get accustomised to the smell.
Please report all spills and/or damages to the staff promptly.

Room rates include double occupancy or in the case of the Silver room triple occupancy, some rooms have a discount if there is only 1 guest.
We do accept walk-in guests if there is a vacancy. Rates are quoted per night including taxes.
All reservations must be guaranteed with a credit card regardless of how the final payment will be made. We accept MC, Visa, Paypal. We do not accept personal checks.
Guests that will be redeeming any kind of certificates or vouchers must provide the certificate number at the time of booking.
Whole house rentals Orange/Turquoise/Silver rooms or Gold/Platinum rooms must be paid in full 30 days in advance.
If you book in advance via a booking site like airbnb, booking.com etc they will take the payment immediately or some days before your arrival. We shall take your payment when you arrive (apart from whole house rentals) but we will keep your credit card details on hand in case of cancellations outwith our return policy.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
By taking your reservation, we agree to keep a room or rooms available to you, to the exclusion of all others, for when you requested them. In return, we rely on customers who have made reservations in advance to give us fair notice of cancellation (Please see below).
A room cancellation in a hotel may amount to less than 2% of the total capacity of that hotel and therefore any cancellation has little effect on their overall business for any particular day. In the case of a Guesthouse, any cancellation represents a far greater proportion of their business for any particular day and, in the case of Akranes Rooms Guesthouse, it represents between 25% – 75% of our capacity, depending on the type of room/s cancelled. That is why guesthouse Cancellation Policies are generally less flexible than those of hotels.
We request that where possible any cancellations should be made within the requested time periods specified below, preferably confirmed by letter or e-mail. It is also preferable that cancellations or amendments to bookings be made by the individual who made the initial booking.
Please note that:
1. No refunds are given in the event of early check-outs.
2. We strongly recommend that all guests obtain suitable Travel Insurance to provide suitable cover in the event of cancellation.
3. Personal details requested on booking are for our ‘sole’ use and are not passed on to any 3rd party except where we make enquiries for and on your behalf at another establishment. You may request at any time any personal information we have regarding you and your booking.
Accommodation Bookings for 2 Nights or less:
Cancellations should be notified as soon as is practically possible, however:
For cancellations made 14 days or more prior to the date of arrival, no charges will be payable, although any deposit already paid will be forfeited.
For cancellations made between 14 and 7 days prior to arrival, a charge equivalent to one night’s stay and the loss of any deposit already paid will be charged to the credit card used to secure the initial reservation. In certain cases if we are able to re-book the rooms we may cancel this or part of this charge.
If cancellations are made less than 7 days prior to arrival, a cancellation charge equal to the full amount of the original booking will be charged to the credit card used to secure the initial reservation. In certain cases if we are able to re-book the rooms we may cancel this or part of this charge.
Accommodation Bookings for 3 or More Nights:
Cancellations should be notified as soon as is practically possible, however:
For cancellations made 28 days or more prior to the date of arrival, no charges will be payable, although any deposit already paid will be forfeited.
For cancellations made between 28 and 14 days prior to arrival, a charge equivalent to one night’s stay and the loss of any deposit already paid will be charged to the credit card used to secure the initial reservation.
If cancellations are made less than 14 days prior to arrival, a cancellation charge equal to the full amount of the original booking will be charged to the credit card used to secure the initial reservation. In certain cases if we are able to re-book the rooms we may cancel this or part of this charge.
Non Cancellation / No Shows
Failure to cancel and/or “No Shows” will result in a charge of the full amount of the original booking.
We trust that our guests will consider this to be a fair and reasonable policy and confirmation of a reservation shall imply acceptance of these terms.
