We are a beautiful Eco-hostel on a bridge accessed island in Mid-coast Maine. We offer a variety of private rooms which accommodate between 1 and 4 people. We also offer secluded huts tucked into the forest.
The main house was hand built by the hostel's founder using 17th century building techniques. The property boasts beautiful organic gardens, a fire pit, a shared kitchen, composting toilets and a hot outdoor shower. We are boardered by a beautiful ocean-side nature preserve with hiking trails and beach access, and the canoeing/kayaking around the archipelago is superb.

Join us for a home cooked communal dinner every night at 6.30 pm and make some memories in a hostel that feels like home.

Hut In The Woods Book

This lovely hut is set back 300 ft from the main building and has a double bed and a cot sized bed, windows that open (with bug screens) and a lovely view over the surrounding woods. Perfect for the solo traveler, a couple or a small family. It has electric lights and outlets to charge devices.

Secluded Hut Book

Set 200 feet from the main building in the mossy spruce woods. Wake up by the birds and perhaps a passing deer. Has a double bed, no electricity, we provide a lantern.

The Outpost Book

Screened and breezy, this hand-built hut has forest views in all directions. The Outpost is a very private walk-in site and is simply furnished with a full size bed and linens. It is a 200 yard walk down a mossy path from the main hostel building where water, electricity and restrooms are located. Peeing off in the woods is encouraged

Private Room West Book

Sleeps 2 to 4 people (one double bed and a set of bunk beds), located in the main building on the second floor. Lots of light through the evening and wonderful airflow, great views over garden and fire pit.

Private room on the second floor of main building, beautiful morning light and view over the garden. Sleeps up to 3 people in one double bed and one single.

Private Single Room Book

A small room with a single bed for one person. It’s located in a separate part of the owners private quarters, about 200 ft from the main building. You enter through the laundry room and the other part of the cabin is mainly used as office space. Enjoy the community of the Hostel with the chance to withdraw to your private space for some quiet time. Wonderful view over the yard and orchard. Composting toilet with electric light 40 ft away.

Tent Camping Site Book

A simple, beautiful tent site on a mossy little rise tucked into the woods behind the hostel. Less than a 2 minute walk to bathrooms and the main hostel building and yet, totally private. You won’t have any neighbors as there is only one tent site. The flat space is approximately 6X7 feet so just large enough for most 2 person tents. Not really suitable for larger setups. There is a simple clothes line and room for chairs. It is a walk-in site and parking is 150 yards away. No fires are allowed at the private site but you are welcome to the fire pit by the hostel building as well as the other amenities.

Attic Book

With the finest garden view in the house, this 3rd floor room has a double and a single bed and is reached by a ship's ladder from the 2nd floor. Even in warm weather it cools of fast in the evenings and has windows with screens that can be opened. The ladder comes up through a hatch that can be closed for privacy.

Terms & Conditions

Cancellations receive full refund, excluding a 10% administrative fee (minimum $10), if 7 or more days in advance of the first night reserved. When less than seven days remain, we will try to rent the room to someone else and if we do we'll refund you the money.
By paying you confirm that all information is correct, that you're aware of the cancellation policy and that you agree to release the hostel from liabilities involving but not limited to accidents, injuries and losses arising from your stay here, as well as that you have read and agreed to our Covid-19 guidelines.
