With our hotel also being a historic building, it has a rich past that dates back to 1892 when it was first constructed. ** Please note that our building does not have elevators or lifts, so be aware that it will require climbing two flights of stairs to reach our rooms. Please take this aspect into account when formulating your arrangements.

- We have 12 rooms in the hotel, which includes, 7 Deluxe Queens with Ensuites, 2 Economy queens with Ensuites, 1 King room with ensuite, 1 Queen room . and 1 Queen room with a kitchenette that both share one bathroom. The bathroom is not connected to any of the three rooms. Instead, all three rooms are situated in a separate hallway.
-Please note that unfortunately, we do not have a front desk at our location. During the peak season, which is from June to September, we offer 24/7 service for your convenience. If you require any assistance during your stay, all you have to do is pick up your room phone and dial 0 to contact us, and we will be there to assist you. Alternatively, you can access the intercom located just outside the hotel entrance, and we will be ready to help you right away. Your comfort is our top priority!
-During the summer months, air conditioning window units are set up to cool down the indoor environment. Please be aware that the installation of window units will render your windows unusable, either open or close. Unfortunately, despite our prime downtown location, we are unable to control the noise levels caused by the daily hustle and bustle of the busy city, including nearby traffic, restaurants and bars. It is important to remember this crucial factor when making a booking decision.
-Our location is surrounded by a vibrant dining and entertainment scene, but it also means we are exposed to the hustle and bustle of city life. Please note that there may be noise from downtown that is unavoidable and outside of our control. There is also a restaurant & bar located onsite. When making a booking, it's important to consider potential sources of noise and take them into account. This will ensure a more peaceful and restful stay for you.
-Please note that we do not accept cash payments at this establishment. We exclusively handle all payments through online transactions.
-We require a $200 deposit during our slow season (Oct-May) for incidentals & damages, and we collect this and the full amount of your reservation on the morning of your stay, and it is charged to the credit card on file. Upon check-out, we will refund the $200 deposit provided that no incidents occurred and no damages were made to the room during your stay. To cancel a reservation during this season, you must do so at least 24 hours before the scheduled date. Please note that if you fail to cancel within the specified time frame, your deposit will not be refunded. It is important that you act promptly in order to receive your refund.
-During our peak season (June to September), in order to secure your reservation, we kindly ask for a deposit equal to the cost of the first night, which should be paid 5 days prior to your reservation. The remaining balance will be processed on the morning of your check-in date. This allows us to ensure that your reservation is held and guarantees you a relaxing and stress-free stay with us. Please note that during this season, our cancellation policy requires you to request a cancellation at least 96 hours prior to your scheduled reservation date. If you don't cancel within the given timeframe, your deposit will be forfeited. Please make sure to cancel on/before the deadline to avoid losing your deposit,

The Duckworth Inn is an exclusive property where every guest reservation is both important and special to us.
As a downtown hotel, please anticipate standard city noise such as music, conversation, smoking, traffic, construction, and noise from neighboring businesses, like local pubs. Please understand that these noises are outside our control, so please keep this in mind when booking to stay with us as this is part of the downtown St. John's scene.
As a historic building built in 1892, we would also like you to take note we do not have any elevators or lifts. And there are two flights of stairs to get to the top floor of the hotel.
We do not have a front desk, but someone is always around to help you. If you need help, have any inquiries or face an urgent situation during your stay, please don't hesitate to contact us by dialing zero on your room phone or calling 765-1802. We are always available to provide you with the assistance you need to ensure your stay is comfortable and hassle-free.

Please read through the below policies, so your stay can be more enjoyable and understand what we offer.
****NO VIOLENCE OR VIOLENT BEHAVIOR WILL BE TOLERATED. You will forfeit the $200 deposit as well as any payments already made towards the booking. NO EXCEPTIONS. We will not tolerate this type of behavior at our family run inn.
NO SMOKING: Absolutely NO SMOKING inside the building or the ROOMS. There is a fee of $500 for smoking in the room. You will be asked to leave if you do smoke on premises. As well, any payments/pre-authorizations already made towards the booking will be forfeited.
NO OPEN FLAMES: No open flames are allowed anywhere onsite. This includes burning incense, herbs, sage, candles, etc. You will be asked to vacate the property immediately and forfeit your security deposit.
NO PETS: There is a fee of $200 for having pets in the room. If you require a service animal, we will not be able to book without proof that your animal is indeed a service animal. This is mandatory when booking in this situation.
DAMAGES: Any damages to room or property will be charged to the credit card on file.
Rates/policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests. A 30-day cancellation notice is required on whole house bookings and for some holidays and special events. Rates do not include tax.
We are NOT a scent-free environment due to onsite restaurants and bars; therefore, we can not monitor customer usage of perfumes and other scents.
Loss of room keys will result in a $25 charge.
We install window units for AC during the summer months. Please be aware that, once the window units are in place, you will not be able to open or close the windows. Our location is right in the heart of downtown, that means we are unable to manage the ambient sound of vehicular traffic, bars, and restaurants. "It's important to keep this in mind when making a reservation."
After we collect the payment on the day of your reservation, we will email you containing a four-digit code. The code is intended for opening our front door. "Please make a note of this code as it will be necessary for building entry."
It is our guarantee to offer you the best service possible. We cannot guarantee a specific room but will make every effort to accommodate all requests.
We do not have our own private parking!

All guests are responsible for their own parking fees and tickets.
There is no breakfast offered; however, there are mini fridges and coffee makers with coffee/tea supplies in each room. And there are some breakfast places that are quite close to our hotel!
We also have a restaurant onsite called “Magnum and Steins” that opens at 5pm! And we offer 10% off to all guests staying at the hotel!

Gift certificates must be presented at check-in along with a valid driver's license. Gift certificates are transferable. Any remaining amount on gift certificates can be used at a later date up to the expiration date. Gift certificates cannot be redeemed for cash.
Payment Policy
We do not accept cash.
During our slower season October-May, there is a $200 deposit plus the duration of your stay processed on the day you check in.
During our busy season June-September, we process the total of your first night's stay 5 days before your reservation, and the remaining balance on the day you check in.
If the transaction is declined, we will contact you for another form of payment and if unsuccessful in reaching you, your reservation will be cancelled.
If you check in during our slower season, the $200 deposit is refunded pending there were no incidents or damages to your room.
Cancellation Policy
If your travel plans change, and you must cancel your reservation, our cancellation policy is as follows:
-12 hour cancellation between the months October to May
-96 hour cancellation between the months of June to September.
This policy gives us enough time to offer the room to other guests who may need it. Thank you for understanding and we hope to see you soon.
-If booked through booking.com, Expedia or Airbnb, you cannot cancel through us. Your reservation has to be cancelled through booking.com, Expedia or Airbnb.
We are strict on our cancellation policy.
If you do not give us enough notice, we will have to hold you responsible for the complete booking amount. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
