Please be aware that there are no elevators or lifts in our building, so you will need to climb two flights of stairs to reach our rooms. WE ARE NOT PET FRIENDLY.

We offer a total of 12 rooms in our inn. There are 7 Deluxe Queen rooms, each with a private bathroom. There are 2 Economy Queen rooms with private ensuites. There is a King room with a private bathroom and 2 Queen rooms that share a bathroom available. One of these Queen rooms comes with a convenient kitchenette. Please note that the bathroom is not directly connected to the rooms. Instead, both rooms and the bathroom are situated in a separate hallway.
-Please note that unfortunately, we do not have a front desk at our location. During the peak season, which is from June to September, we offer 24/7 service for your convenience. If you require any assistance during your stay, please call 709-765-1802 and we will be there to assist you. Your comfort is our top priority!
-During the summer months, air conditioning window units are set up to cool down the indoor environment. Please be aware that the installation of window units will render your windows unusable, either open or closed. We can't control the noise in our downtown location caused by the busy city, like traffic, restaurants and bars. It is important to remember this crucial factor when making a booking decision.
Our location has many options for dining and entertainment, but it also means we experience the busy atmosphere of the city. Please note that there may be noise from downtown that is unavoidable and outside our control. There is also a restaurant & bar located onsite. When making a booking, it's important to consider potential sources of noise and take them into account. This will ensure a more peaceful and restful stay for you.
-Please note that we do not accept cash payments at this establishment. We exclusively handle all payments through online transactions.
We need a $200 deposit from October to May for any unexpected costs or damages. We will collect this deposit and the full amount of your reservation on the morning of your stay. The payment will be charged to the credit card you provided. Upon check-out, we will refund the $200 deposit provided that no incidents occurred, and no damages were made to the room during your stay. To cancel a reservation during this season, you must do so at least 24 hours before the scheduled date. Please note that if you fail to cancel within the specified time frame, your deposit will not be refunded. It is important that you act promptly in order to receive your refund.
There is a 2% Visa, Mastercard, Visa Debit credit card fee. 3% when using American Express. This is the credit card surcharge fee credit card suppliers charge for use of their cards.
To book a room, you must pay a deposit equal to the cost of the first night 5 days before your stay. The remaining balance will be processed on the morning of your check-in date. This allows us to ensure that your reservation is held and guarantees you a relaxing and stress-free stay with us. Please note that during May 15-Octboer 15, our cancellation policy requires you to request a cancellation at least 96 hours prior to your scheduled reservation date. If you don't cancel within the given timeframe, your deposit will be forfeited. Please make sure to cancel on/before the deadline to avoid losing your deposit.
-We do not have our own private parking. There is a parking garage directly across the street from the hotel, so also keep in mind that it is not free. To check the rates at this time, follow this link: http://metropark.ca/st-johns/ We are not associated with the parking garage and will not be held liable for any stolen items or damages to the guest's property should they avail of this parking option. There is also onstreet metered parking which is the guests' responsibility to find out rates and times when the city applies fines for parking. We are not affiliated and cannot be held liable for any damages or tickets for availing of using the city's metered parking.

The Duckworth Inn is a small property where every guest reservation is both important and special to us.

As a downtown inn, please anticipate standard city noise such as music, conversation, smoking, traffic, construction, and noise from neighboring businesses, like local pubs. Please understand that these noises are outside our control, so please keep this in mind when booking to stay with us as this is part of the downtown St. John's scene.

As a historic building built in 1892, we would also like you to take note we do not have any elevators or lifts. And there are two flights of stairs to get to the top floor of the hotel.

We do not have a front desk, but someone is always around to help you. To reach us for help or urgent matters during your stay, call 709-765-1802. We are always available to provide you with the assistance you need to ensure your stay is comfortable and hassle-free.

Check-in: 3:30 PM

Check-out: 11:00 AM.

Please Note: There is a Late Check-out Fee of $50/hr if you fail to check out at 11am. No Exceptions.

CANCELLATION POLICY
-12 hour cancellation between the months October 15 to May 15
-96 hour cancellation between the months of May 16-October 14. If you cancel throughout your stay, there will be no refund.
This policy gives us enough time to offer the room to other guests who may need it.

We process all payments online only. We do not accept cash. Full payment is taken 5 days prior to your reservation May 11-October 15. Full payment is taken a day prior to your check in October 16-April 30. If declined, we will contact you immediately and if no response, you reservation will be cancelled immediately and you will have to rebook again with another credit card.

****NO VIOLENCE OR VIOLENT BEHAVIOR WILL BE TOLERATED. You will forfeit the $200 deposit as well as any payments already made towards the booking. NO EXCEPTIONS. We will not tolerate this type of behavior at our family run inn.
NO SMOKING OR VAPING: Absolutely NO SMOKING OR VAPING inside the building or the ROOMS. There is a fee of $500 for smoking in the room. You will be asked to leave if you do smoke on premises. As well, any payments/pre-authorizations already made towards the booking will be forfeited.
NO OPEN FLAMES: No open flames are allowed anywhere onsite. This includes burning incense, herbs, sage, candles, etc. You will be asked to vacate the property immediately and forfeit your security deposit.
NO PETS: There is a fee of $200 for having pets in the room. If you require a service animal, we will not be able to book without proof that your animal is indeed a service animal. This is mandatory when booking in this situation.
DAMAGES: Any damages to room or property will be charged to the credit card on file.

Rates/policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests. A 30-day cancellation notice is required on whole house bookings and for some holidays and special events. Rates do not include tax.

We are NOT a scent-free environment due to onsite restaurants and bars; therefore, we can not monitor customer usage of perfumes and other scents.

We are not responsible for any guest belongings.

Loss of room keys will result in a $25 charge.

We install window units for AC during the summer months. Please be aware that, once the window units are in place, you will not be able to open or close the windows. Our location is right in the heart of downtown, that means we are unable to manage the ambient sound of vehicular traffic, bars, and restaurants. "It's important to keep this in mind when making a reservation."

After we collect the balance of your stay on the day of your reservation, we will email you containing a four-digit code. The code is intended for opening our front door. "Please make a note of this code as it will be necessary for building entry."

It is our guarantee to offer you the best service possible. We cannot guarantee a specific room but will make every effort to accommodate all requests.

We do not have our own private parking!

All guests are responsible for their own parking fees and tickets whether they choose to use the parking garage or the on street parking. We're also not responsible for your vehicle or it's contents as it is a public parking garage and we are not affiliated. On street parking is use at your own risk as it's run by our city and is not affiliated with us.

There is no breakfast offered; however, there are mini fridges and coffee makers with coffee/tea supplies in each room. And there are some breakfast places that are quite close to our hotel!
We also have a restaurant onsite called “Magnum and Steins” that opens at 5pm! And we offer 10% off to all guests staying at the hotel!

Gift certificates must be presented at check-in along with a valid driver's license. Gift certificates are transferable. Any remaining amount on gift certificates can be used at a later date up to the expiration date. Gift certificates cannot be redeemed for cash.

We are strict on our cancellation policy.
If you do not give us enough notice, we will have to hold you responsible for the complete booking amount. If you make a mistake in choosing the wrong room rate, double booking, etc, please understand that we have to hold you accountable for your mistake. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
