Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions for HOVELL HALL
1. In the unlikely event that we have to change or cancel your booking we reserve the right to do so.
2. If we have to cancel your booking due to our forced closure by a Government lockdown, either national or local, or due to infection on the premises, then we will do our best to move your booking to a mutually agreeable future date (within 12 months, subject to availability) and will carry your deposit over to this future stay. No refunds will be made. Please note we will not be liable for any sums which you have paid to any other persons/parties in connection with your reservation. For the avoidance of doubt, we shall have no further liability to you for any changes to, or the cancellation of, any booking.
3. If you cancel your booking because you don’t want to travel, or because you have been told to self-isolate, or due to a Government lockdown in your local area, then the normal cancellation policy applies – see section 4 below. We strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance.
4. Cancellation: Should it become necessary for you to cancel your booking with less than 7 days’ notice we shall, of course, make every effort to re-let your accommodation. However, should HOVELL HALL be unable to do so - a charge equivalent to the full value of the booking will be made. We regret there can be no allowance for curtailment of a reservation. Cancelling with 8 or more days prior to arrival. Guests will receive a full refund less the 25% non refundable deposit back to the original payment method made on booking.
5. For the safety of all guests and staff, anyone suffering from Covid-19 symptoms (as described by the Government at that time), either on arrival or during their stay, will be asked to return to their main residence to self-isolate and no refund will be made. We strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance.
6. We require valid credit/debit card details to secure your reservation. All card details are held securely.
7. You authorise HOVELL HALL to send instructions to the financial institution that issued your card to take payments from your card account in accordance with the terms of your agreement with us.
8. A 25% non-refundable deposit is taken at the time of booking when booking directly with HOVELL HALL. Bookings made through any 3rd party, such as an online travel agency, will have their own non-refundable and refundable deposits taken – this is in accordance to their t&c’s. For direct bookings, your payment card details are held against the room. Should you fail to take up your reservation without letting us know, a charge will be made against your card for the full amount of your booking (see section 4 above). Bookings made with an arrival date within 7 days of the booking will be charged in full at the time of booking after the initial 25% deposit is taken.
9. If the person making the reservation is different to the person(s) taking up occupation, the person who makes the reservation may be held responsible for non-arrival/damage or loss and monies may be taken from their credit/debit card.
10. Check In: Check in is between 3pm-11pm
11. Check Out: Check out time is by 11:00am. Any hour or part hour after 11am will be charged at £30 per 15 minutes and charged to the card on the file as when booked. If the guests leave goods in the property to return later to collect - without the consent of HH, there will be a charge of £50 per hour for storage.
12. Late Arrivals: Any guests arriving late without prior arrangement, will have a £50 late arrival supplement added to their bill.
We cannot accept check-ins after 11pm – unless previously arranged.
13. Damage to Rooms or Contents: Where a guest causes damage to any part of the room or to any of the fixtures and fittings the cost of replacement or repair will be charged to the guest. Where a guest causes temporary damage a cleaning charge will be added to the guest’s bill. See #17 for finer details.
14. Removal of products from HOVELL HALL – will be charge at the repurchase cost plus £50.00 per item, plus £50.00 per item administrator fee
15. We strongly recommend that you take out Travel/Holiday cancellation insurance to cover you in such circumstances. Please remember your reservation is a binding contract under British Law.
16. If you or any member of your party has any special access requirements, please let us know.
17. Accidents: Please let us know immediately of any damage, or accidental damage or spillage, however caused, so that we can clean, replace or repair. We understand accidents happen and early intervention can prevent permanent damage. Failure to inform us will result in a charge being made against you for damage subsequently found. If there are any dry cleaning bills associated with the damage from spillage or accidental issues - this will be charged to the customer plus an administration fee of £50.00. If an item has to be replaced due to damage, accidental damage or spillages - the cost incur to replace like for new will be at the guests cost plus an additional £50.00 administration fee. Any item that is unable to be replaced due to historic, vintage or antique age - the guest will incur the sale price if sold on the open market, plus a replacement fee of a product that is suitable as a replacement plus an additional £50.00 for the administrator fee. This is non negotiable.
18. Smoking: HOVELL HALL is a non-smoking premises and smoking in the property is against the law. If a guest/visitor is found smoking anywhere in the property, they will be asked to leave and full payment for the reservation will be taken from the credit/debit card. Should it be found after a room has been vacated that the guest/visitor has smoked in the room a charge will be made against the debit/credit card for full and thorough cleaning of the room and for any loss incurred to the business by us having to cancel or turn away bookings whilst the room/accommodation is thoroughly cleaned. This fee is minimum £250 plus the cost of new bedding and soft furnishings including curtains/blinds and rugs. However, we have a designated smoking area with an ashtray outside of the property. PLEASE NOTE: this includes electronic smoking and vaping.
19. Towels - are provided in each room for the use of guests while they stay with us. The towels are not for the use of guests outside their rooms. If a guest would like a towel for use outside the property, please ask. Please do not use the white towels to remove make-up, tanning lotions or hair dye. A supplementary charge will be made for additional cleaning of towels to remove make-up etc. Towels are changed after 3 days. Stays of 4 days or more towels are changed after 2 days. If you require fresh towels more frequently there is a supplementary charge of £5 for each extra towel. If any towel is damaged through neglect, abuse, hair products, colourings, burning, used as a mop, floor covering - the guest will be charged for a replacement towel of the same quality and size, plus a £10.00 purchase fee plus an administration fee of £50.00
20. Any guests behaving in an inappropriate way will be told to leave and full payment for the reservation will be taken from the credit/debit card.
21. Parking - We offer free off-road parking for up to 5 cars on a first come first served basis. The users of the car park do so at their own risk. We (HOVELL HALL) will not accept any liability for any Accidents, Damage or Loss Incurred. There is a designated parking spot where other vehicles cannot pass your vehicle, as shown in the house manual. If you do not park in this area, this will be your choice.
22. Take Away & Food - Cooked or smelly cold foods are not allowed in ‘the bedrooms’ for the convenience of other guests using the rooms. If a guest wishes to buy a takeaway meal (from HOVELL HALL or another 3rd party provider) and eat it at or in HOVELL HALL – then we have already provided plates and cutlery for you to eat in the kitchenette room. Guests are not allowed to eat food/meals in their bedroom. If linens are found with unremovable food / drink stains – we will charge the payment card for new replacement items -see #17
