Terms & Conditions
Shoes - One of the wonderful things about coming to a Bed and Breakfast is that it provides you with the opportunity to experience the culture of that country first hand. While we understand that it is not the case in all countries, in Canada, removing one's shoes when one enters a house is standard practice. We think you will find the atmosphere of our B&B quite relaxed and informal but hope you can understand the necessity of enforcing this policy. We provide slippers for each of our guests but please feel free to bring along your own house slippers to use here at the lodge.
Please leave your shoes at the entrance to help us maintain hygiene by not wearing outside shoes in the lodge.
Pets and/or Animals - We regret that we are not able to permit pets of any kind in our Bed & Breakfast.
Hummingbird Lodge is Smoke-Free. If you are found smoking in the house, you will be asked to leave without a refund. We do allow smoking outside on the deck. Ashtrays are provided.
We are not wheelchair accessible.
Rates include a complimentary full breakfast.
A two-night minimum stay is required on all major holidays and holiday weekends throughout the year, including special event weekends.
Check-in time is between 2:00-6:00 PM: We will, however, be happy to check you in early if the room is not occupied. You are also welcome to leave your baggage with us if you arrived early and the room is still occupied.
Just as you would expect your room to be ready at check-in time, we are counting on you to arrive as close to the specified time as possible. Please
e-mail or phone us to let us know if your scheduled arrival time has changed just in case we have to run some errands. We do understand that at times plane flights & ferries might be delayed etc. and it may prove impossible to contact us, but a phone call or email is really appreciated if at all possible.
Check-out time is 11:00 AM: As we have to prepare the room for the next check-in. If you have a late flight to catch and would like to explore Gabriola Island one last time before your flight or ferry, you are also welcome to leave your baggage with us for the day.
Rates/Policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests.
Some of the data gathered during the course of a booking may be held on our computer. We would like to hold this data after your visit to be able to inform you of future offers. If you would prefer us not to hold this information please let us know.
Damage and Breakages
Please take care of our lodge. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents. Please report these as soon as they occur especially if you accidentally spill something – it’s much easier to clean if we know what it is and act quickly. We do not normally charge for breakages, but we reserve the right to charge for repair or making good if the damage is significant.
**We reserve the right to cancel a booking in the event of things 'Beyond our Reasonable Control': We will not be in breach of our agreements and booking contract, nor liable for any failure to perform any of our obligations in relation to your booking, due to any adverse event, act, omission or accident which is beyond our reasonable control. This includes but is not limited to: flood, earthquake, extreme adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, other acts of God, acts of terrorism, interruption or fire, or failure of electric power, gas, water, or other utility service, plant machinery, computers, vehicles or any collapse or damage of building structures. We also reserve the right to cancel a booking due to personal emergencies, including but not limited to, a death in the family, personal injury or any type of medical or personal emergency.
We do not accept liability for damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.
Items left behind: Regular items left behind require you to contact us for returns. We'd be happy to mail back to you for a flat fee of $40.00 plus applicable taxes. (Larger items will incur extra charges.)
Reservations are confirmed by credit card.
Payment is due on the morning of departure and we accept the following: MasterCard,Visa,Visa debit cards
E-transfer and cash.
Due to our intimate size, cancellations affect us significantly.
Please note there is a 2 day cancellation policy during low season
and a 14 day cancellation policy during mid and high seasons.
We do try to rebook the room for you, but you are responsible
for the cost of the room for any night that it is not rebooked.
Reservation changes such as early departure and no–shows constitute a cancellation.
