The Publishing House is a purpose built 11-room luxury boutique B&B located in the heart of Chicago’s West Loop.

It has been meticulously designed for guests who seek out experiences from where they stay. Since 1909, the building has proudly sat on the corner of Washington Blvd and May St, with the West Loop's famous restaurants, bars and venues all around us.

The Publishing House is also conveniently located close to downtown Chicago and the United Centre.

COVID-19 Policy:

We are committed to the health and safety of our guests and staff during your stay. Please see the following procedures that we have implemented to ensure that we can create a relaxed space, while maintaining healthy practices here at the B&B.

• Hand sanitizer available in common spaces and lobby.
• Maintaining/Disinfecting common spaces frequently throughout the day

Cook County does not require the use of masks indoors. They do suggest the wearing them in indoor public spaces. We follow the guidelines of the City of Chicago and do not require our guests to wear masks indoors or at check-in. We are happy for our guests to do what they feel comfortable with and respect the decisions of others as well.

The Publishing House can be totally yours for any occasion - weddings, corporate getaways, or a retreat for a famous billionaire who just wants their privacy.

Over 9,000 square feet containing 11 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, catering kitchen, butler's pantry, library and your own private cinema all in the heart of Chicago's West Loop neighborhood make for an incredible week or weekend away for you and your closest friends.
The house can accommodate up to 24 guests in 11 rooms (if adding the two rollaway beds).
Pricing starts at $5,000/night +12.9% Accommodations Tax +5% Service Fee for the first Two (2) nights booked that include a weekend night. Each additional night is priced at $3,500/night +Tax & Fees up to Seven (7) nights. For weekday-only and low season rates, please contact us directly to enquire as these will vary depending on demand and availability.
The rate is all inclusive of full cooked to order breakfast for all guests, private use of the entire house for a ceremony and formal sit-down dinner (catering provided professionally by an outside company) for up to 34 people. For the reception, we do allow a maximum of 50 people in house (also cocktail-style dinner), however can only formally seat for ceremony and dinner 34 people. This includes use of the kitchen for one night with a professional caterer (organized by host with an outside company) and media room. We like to think of the house as the hub for the wedding weekend.
Solo Salon (solo-salon.com) and The Press Room (pressroomchicago.com) Wine Bar and Restaurant are on site as well; our Solo location caters specifically to wedding preparations, and the Press Room is the perfect little getaway for a smaller dinner or after dinner drinks.

The print room is our brand new events space for small private events, including corporate and cocktail events, receptions and private dinners.
With a occupancy cap of 20 guests (standing cocktail style) or 16 guests seated at a long table, this space is perfect for your private function, dinner or corporate meeting room. Rates are discounted at 15% for guests who are also staying at the house.

Day time Rates:
$175/hr during the day-time (9am - 5pm) with a maximum total price of $700 for the 8 hours.
$175 additional once off charge for kitchen use (for a professional caterer), and $175 max one-off charge for media room use, including set up, clean up, water and soda service.
Night time Rates:
$225/hr during the nighttime (5pm to 11pm at the latest, or earlier if set up needed) with a maximum total price of $950 for up to 6 hours.
$225 additional once off charge for the kitchen for catering, and $225 max one off charge for media room use, including set up and clean up.

General:
Check-in: Between 2pm – 5pm. If you plan to arrive outside these hours please contact us by email or phone.
Check-out: Monday thru Saturday 11am and Sundays 12pm.

Booking restrictions
Bookings can be made online or directly by telephone up to 24 hours prior to arrival.
We accept reservations up to 5 months in advance of your arrival with a maximum of up to 6 room.
For Whole-House and Group Reservations of 7 rooms or more, we accept bookings up to 2 years ahead and require the whole house to be reserved for your group.
For all same day bookings, please contact us by phone on +1 312 554 5857.

Room occupancy
All rates reflect a 2-guest maximum per room. If available, a roll away bed can be arranged for additional $50/night*.
*Not all rooms can accommodate a roll away bed, please contact us directly for availability.
Our CHILD POLICY welcomes children 12+ or under 1yr of age.

Lost Keys:
THERE WILL BE A $50 FEE FOR ANY LOST KEYS. Due to the safety of our guests door lock barrels will be changed due to lost keys.

Smoking:
The Publishing House has a strict Non-Smoking policy. Guests can smoke outside of the building in designated areas. Smoking in your room or other areas of the house will incur a $250 cleaning fee.

Accidental Damage:
Your credit card is required to be held as security against any accidental damage to your room or the house. You break it, you bought it.

Gym:
The Publishing House has a partnership with the West Loop Athletic Club and we offer discounted daily passes for $10 plus tax. By purchasing the gym pass, you agree to be bound by the terms of use of the WLAC that is required to be signed at the club.

Pets:
WE LOVE PETS (in fact we do have two pugs, Angus and Louie, that live onsite), but unfortunately due to size and the potential for other guest's allergies, we DO NOT allow guest dogs (service animals see below). However, the West Loop hosts some great pet accommodation. The following are a few that we can vouch for highly. Please note you will need to arrange your pet boarding prior to arrival as they require up-to-date vaccinations AND can fill up quickly in high season.

We welcome service animals and ask that you please email your animal service certification to info@publishinghousebnb.com at the time of your booking.

Room guarantee:
We will do our best to provide the specific room you have booked, but reserve the right to upgrade you free of charge to a room more expensive than the one you have booked, downgrade your room and refund the difference, or in rare circumstances cancel your booking and re-book you at an equivalent hotel nearby.

Parking:
We offer two off-street spots available ONLY on the weekends from 5pm on Friday to 8am on Monday. They are $25/night, must be pre-reserved. There is FREE street parking around our block on Randolph, May, Washington and Racine. Or, you can arrange for parking ahead of time through www.parqex.com, www.spothero.com or download the apps.

House amenities: The Publishing House offers Malin and Goetz products for your use in the bathrooms, which are also for sale at RRP. If product is removed from the room, a charge will be added to the room bill for the product. Also available for purchase are soft and fluffy Publishing House bathrobes ($80+tax) and Publishing House coffee mugs ($15 +tax). If you would like to purchase one of these fun things just ask us!

Payment Policy

A one night, non-refundable deposit will be charged upon booking with the balance due and non-refundable 72 hours prior to check-in. Please see below for Cancellation policy.

Whole-house reservations and groups staying in seven rooms or more require a 20% non-refundable deposit, with the balance due 30 days prior to check-in. All whole house reservations also require a $1,000 damage deposit payable at check in.

Cancellation Policy

Because we are a small independent business, we have a strict cancellation policy.
A one night, non-refundable deposit will be charged upon booking, with any cancellation made later than 2:30PM CST, 3 days prior to the check-in date will be charged 100% of the reservation.*
The same policy applies to early check-outs and last minute delays to check-in on your reservation.
Whole-house reservations and groups staying in seven rooms or more we require a 20% non-refundable deposit. Once the balance has been paid the whole reservation is non-refundable.
We strongly encourage all guests to consider travel insurance that covers these costs as we do not offer refunds or credits in case of trip cancellation for any reason.

*At our discretion, if we are able to re-book your room, we will arrange for a refund of the difference received minus a $25 rebooking fee.
