Rose Island Lighthouse – 100 years in the past but only one mile off shore in Narragansett Bay. Not just a lighthouse the 18-Acre island consists of the lighthouse, Fort Hamilton Military Barracks, and acres of bird and wildlife refuge.

Curt Bunting Room

Curt Bunting Room Book

This comfortable, romantic museum room for two is located on the first floor of the lighthouse. It is furnished with a traditional full size brass bed and a dresser. Views from this room include the northern part of the island and the Newport Bridge. Guests renting a museum room share the common lighthouse space and bathroom with another couple. A shared small kitchen space and outside gas grill are available for cooking. A five gallon dispenser of fresh water is also provided. Guests are asked to bring food and beverages (other than water) in a cooler as there is no refrigeration available. Guest use a unique outdoor solar shower while renting this room.

Wanton Chase Room

Wanton Chase Room Book

This lovely museum room for two is located on the western side of the lighthouse features a traditional brass full sized bed and dresser. The views from Wanton's room are of the east passage of Narragansett Bay. Guests will enjoy watching ships passing close by the lighthouse and the sound of waves crashing on the rocks. Guests renting a museum room share the common lighthouse space and bathroom with another couple. A shared small kitchen space and outside gas grill are available for cooking. A five gallon dispenser of fresh water is also provided. Guests are asked to bring food and beverages (other than water) in a cooler as there is no refrigeration available. Guest use a unique outdoor solar shower while renting this room. Dogs are not allowed in our museum rooms. Upon check out we ask that you change your own sheets and bring the used sheets out to the captain of the boat that will pick you up in the morning. Our Check out time is 10 AM. From March 1 until August 15 access to parts of the island is limited due to bird nesting.

Fog Horn Building

Sleep in our 1912 foghorn building. This very romantic room for 2 is separate from the lighthouse. Built upon the rocks next to the lighthouse, this building houses a room with a queen sized bed and a small dining table. This building once housed the steam machinery that generated the power for the Foghorn. Not to worry, the fog horn is gone so one can enjoy the peace and quiet. Guests of this room have access to the lighthouse from 10 am -4 pm. Barracks guests are use the outside bathrooms approximately 100 feet away, as there is no bathroom located inside this room. Just like the museum rooms on the first floor of the lighthouse guest of the Foghorn Room use a solar outdoor shower. This is a seasonal room without heat or electricity. There is no cooking allowed in this room so guests staying in the barracks use the gas grill. A five gallon dispenser of fresh water is also provided. Guests are asked to bring food out to the lighthouse in a cooler as there is no refrigeration available.

Weekly keepers will receive free parking. Stay in our second floor apartment and enjoy all the amenities of home. Max capacity is 4. The apartment includes a master bedroom with queen size bed, living room with full size pull out couch, and a full kitchen with a microwave, gas stove/oven, coffee pot, toaster and refrigerator. The apartment also has a full bathroom and wood burning stove. Views from these rooms are amazing. Stay for a week! We have a keepers program year-round. Please call 401-847-4242. Rates Vary from $1,500 per week in May to $2,100 in July and August. Our off season weekly rental rates area as low as $700.

Barracks Room

Step back in time and stay in our beautiful historic Fort Hamilton Barracks building. Enjoy the privacy of this unique room located several hundred feet away from the lighthouse. Sleep in the restored bomb proof barracks just like the soldiers did, only you will enjoy a queen sized bed (for 2) instead of a bunk. During the war each of these rooms slept 30 soldiers. Our newly restored windows and magnificent 2 inch thick mahogany doors make this room a special stay. Not to mention the walls of your room are three feet thick just in case the British attack. Guests of this room have access to the lighthouse from 10 am -4 pm. Barracks guests are use the outside bathrooms approximately 30 feet away, as there is no bathroom located inside this room. Just like the museum rooms on the first floor of the lighthouse guest of the Barracks use a solar outdoor shower. This is a seasonal room without heat or electricity. There is no cooking allowed in this room so guests staying in the barracks use the gas grill next to your room. A five gallon dispenser of fresh water is also provided. Guests are asked to bring food out to the lighthouse in a cooler as there is no refrigeration available. This is a small room located on the second floor of the lighthouse. The room includes bunk beds only available for children of guests who are renting the Keepers Apartment. THIS ROOM CANNOT BE RENTED AS A SINGLE ROOM

Terms & Conditions

LODGING POLICIES
1. Check out time is 10 am
2. Membership in The Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation is needed to make a reservation. Please select your membership level upon check out and receive 10% discount on one night/one room of your stay.
3. The island and the museum is open to the public from 10 – 4 daily so if you are staying in the Wanton Chase Room or the Curt Bunting Room you will need to neaten things up and stow your belongings under the bed
4. The Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation may at any time schedule a fundraising event on the island. We will make every effort to inform guests prior to any event.
5. We provide linens and towels for overnight guests
6. We provide bottled water for drinking
7. In all rooms except the Apartment, there is no refrigeration and it is necessary to bring all your food and drinks (other than water) in a cooler.
8. There are propane gas grills available for cooking
9. A fire pit is available on a first come first serve basis. Please bring fire wood.
10. Upon check out we ask that you change the sheets, bring the used sheets out the boat upon your departure, and clean your rooms
11. There is absolutely No Smoking inside the property; however designated outdoor smoking areas are available
12. Children under 5 are not permitted at the lighthouse

Payment Policy

Rates/policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests.

We require payment in full for all reservations except week-long reservations which require a $500.00 initial deposit, a second deposit is due is at 6 months with the balance due 90 days before check-in.

Cancellation Policy

The Rose Island Lighthouse is an exclusive property where every guest reservation is both important and special. We only have a few rooms and we cannot absorb last minute cancellations so we require full payment at the time of your booking. If your travel plans change and you must cancel your reservation, please call us at least two weeks prior to your stay.

In the event that you must cancel with less than two weeks notice, shorten your stay or check out early, please understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation. If we can re-book your room(s), a partial refund will be made less a $25 cancellation fee. Due to our cancellation policy, we recommend travel insurance if you have potential health issues or other reasons that might require cancellation.
