The 1706 is Calgary’s most luxurious sleep experience. We are proud to be one of only a handful of hotels in North America to feature Hastens, the authentic horsehair mattress that’s been handmade in Sweden since 1852.
We are centrally located, on a quiet street just minutes from the bustle of Downtown Calgary, and within walking distance of some of the city’s trendiest boutiques, cafes and restaurants. At the 1706, you get all the benefits of staying right in the city, without the busyness. You’ll feel the sense of calm and relaxation as soon as you walk through our door.
When you join us for a stay, you’ll be sleeping at the pinnacle of comfort. If you already sleep on a Hastens, you know what we’re talking about. And you know how hard it is to travel and sleep on a regular bed. If you’ve never experience Hastens, you’re in for a treat. It is one of the true joys of life.
As you lie down and get cozy, you’ll also be treated by climbing into some of the world’s most luxurious Organic and natural linens. Our rotating collection of linens includes sets from luxury designers such as Matouk, Matteo, Coyuchi, and more. Please contact us in advance to let us know if you have any specific preferences for your bed-linens.
And, of course, after your night of rest, you wake up and get treated to a delicious breakfast made from the finest local and Organic ingredients. Hot and cold options are available, so you can get just what you need to get your day started right.

Our property has a policy of No Smoking and No Pets. If you are found to be in violation of either of these, you will be assessed a $350 fee.
Check-in time is 3:00 pm. We will be happy to check you in early if your room is available, please call or email to see if we can arrange an early arrival.
Check out time is 12:00 noon.
Please let us know your arrival time so we can be available to check you in.
Free parking and complimentary local, Organic breakfast are available to all our overnight guests.
All guest rooms are located on the second floor. There is an elevator, but there are a few steps leading up to the front door. We will be glad to help you in any way we can, but can't make the claim of being 100% accessible.

Items left behind and requested to be mailed will incur a minimum charge of $10 and may take up to 30 days to receive. We apologize for any inconvenience. To avoid this, please be sure to thoroughly check your room for items that are of value to you prior to your departure.
We reserve the right to charge for any damage to or removal of items from the premises and/or unusual cleaning.
Damaged or missing items from rooms post check out will be charged to your security deposit on file. These include but are not limited to remote controls, bathrobes, linens, pillows, mugs, room key, books, etc., Please inquire if you have any questions or concerns about this policy.
Our rates are all inclusive, based on double occupancy and includes complimentary breakfast. There are no additional taxes, fees or hidden surcharges. Direct reservations are confirmed by payment of your 1st night in the case of a one or two-night stay OR 50% of your total stay for three or more nights. This may appear as two separate charges on your statement in the case of three or more days. All other channels (e.g. booking.com, etc.) require full payment in advance. A $400 security deposit authorization is required at check in. A valid id must be presented at time of check in along with the credit card used to reserve online. No cash accepted onsite.
As we are a small independent business, cancellations affect us greatly.
Therefore, all cancellations are subject to a minimum $25 per booked room cancellation fee and are treated as follows:
In advance of 14 full days prior to arrival date - Refund of deposit, less the $25 cancellation fee.
Within two weeks from arrival - Refund of deposit based on our ability to resell your room(s), less the $25 fee.
A 30-day cancellation applies to all holidays, months of May/June/September/October and from mid November through January 15th.
30-day cancellation or more applies to all bookings of more than two rooms year round.
EXCEPTION: New Year week, and Stampede Week, reservations are paid in full, in advance, and are non-refundable.
Please be sure to acquire trip insurance in the event of unexpected illness, death or weather related emergencies as we are not able to make an exception to this policy.
Additional policies apply to group reservations of three or more rooms.
All cancellations must be provided to the innkeeper in writing. You will receive any refund due within 30 days.
