The Burgundy Bed and Breakfast is a restored 1890’s Eastlake style shotgun double, a traditional style of New Orleans architecture. We have made every effort to retain the original character of this New Orleans treasure.
Almost everything in the house is original, including the 8 (not working, formerly coal-burning) fireplaces, the hardwood floors, the 12 foot ceilings (a few of which have original plaster medallions and crown moulding), the louvered shutters, as well as the doors (including two sets of pocket doors) and windows.
The Burgundy Bed and Breakfast has 4 guest rooms, each with its own private bath. We share the courtyard, spa, porches and the dining room with our guests. And there is a parlor and a galley kitchen for the guests to share. The parlor is a meeting point, sitting room, library (videos and books) and “cyber-cafe” – we have wireless internet – all in one. The galley kitchen has a refrigerator, sink, microwave, coffee maker and toaster oven. The rear porch opens onto a courtyard, which is suitable for sunbathing. Across the courtyard is the half-open “carriage house”, in which the spa (whirlpool, hot tub, Jacuzzi) is located. We have a “clothing optional” policy in the spa.
We request that our smoking guests restrict smoking to the back porch and the courtyard.
And by the way, “Burgundy” is one of several street names which are locally “mispronounced”: We say bur-GUN-dy, although the color of the same name is pronounced BUR-gun-dy. Probable reason: The street was named after the Duke of Burgundy, in French bour-GON-ye.

Terms & Conditions
For single night stays (when bookable) there is a $20 surcharge. This surcharge will be included with your confirmation.
The City of New Orleans does now require smaller properties to collect its 5% hotel sales tax. This is a new policy, and it is in addition to the 4.45% sales tax collected by the state of Louisiana and the 50-cent per night city occupancy fee. While we are disappointed the city decided to increase sales taxes on small businesses, our sales tax rates are still significantly lower than those imposed upon the large hotels.
No smoking in the house. Clothing optional in the hot tub. Check-in is "by appointment only". Please keep us up to date on your expected arrival time. Check-out is 12 noon, but we are happy to store your bags for later departures.
Payment methods / Deposit: We accept cash, checks, money orders and credit cards (Discover, Visa, MasterCard). An initial deposit equal to one night’s rent is required to confirm a reservation.
For reservations of 5 nights or more the deposit is 1/3 of the total amount. The portion in excess of your initial deposit is due one month prior to your arrival. The remainder is due upon arrival.
For Special Events the entire amount for your stay is due one month prior to your arrival.
For cancellations more than one month before arrival date your deposit will be refunded less a $25 cancellation fee per room. For cancellations one month or less (but more than 3 days) before your arrival date, a refund will be made for the nights we are able to re-book your room(s). For cancellations 3 days or less before your arrival date, no-shows and early departures, your credit card will be charged for the entire stay, less the nights we are able to re-book your room(s).
