Property Information

The Malabar
Marthwaite Cumbria LA10 5ED United Kingdom

The Malabar is a converted 18th century barn at the foot of the Howgill Fells in Cumbria. The property has been lovingly restored and houses six spacious bedrooms, all with large en-suite bathrooms with freestanding baths and monsoon showers. All the bedrooms have magnificent views of the surrounding countryside creating a restful environment in which to unwind. Breakfast is served around a large oak dining table with doors leading out onto a paved terrace. The older section of the barn is now a comfortable living room where afternoon tea is offered on arrival and drinks can be taken from a well stocked honesty bar. Woodburning fires, flagstone floors and Herdwick wool carpets, along with pure wool duvets, crisp bed linen and products from The Bath House, have been carefully selected to ensure guests are extremely comfortable during their stay. Tea is a large part of The Malabar experience as Graham comes from two generations of tea planters, with blends carefully selected from Farrer's of Kendal, England's oldest tea and coffee merchant. A very thoughtful and personal style of hospitality is on offer at The Malabar.

Please note we are closed on Sundays other than to guests who are staying for a long weekend.
