The Shipwrights Arms

We have a collection of four stunning self-contained guest rooms which are a new addition to the famous Shipwrights Arms pub in Helford. Located opposite the traditional thatched pub, the room provides luxurious and contemporary accommodation in a secluded setting. Positioned directly on the water with beautiful views across the Helford River, guests can enjoy uninterrupted views and soak up the peace and tranquility of a traditional Cornish creekside village. Continental breakfast baskets are provided with our rooms.

Helford is considered one of the most beautiful waterside villages in Cornwall. It is a paradise for walkers and sailors. There are many public footpaths in the area, including the path to Frenchman’s Creek, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier. Helford is a tiny picturesque fishing village and was one of the most important ports in England in the 17th and 18th centuries. It still has an active fishing and sailing community. The Shipwrights Arms is a traditional thatched pub at the heart of the village which serves locally sourced fish and meat and the most amazing views across the Helford River. The Holy Mackeral cafe (a former church) is located by the main village car park (only open during Spring/Summer), and serves light meals, cakes and drinks. The village stores is well stocked with everything you need for your stay. During high season a ferry runs across the river from the Point (a few minutes' stroll from Curlew). The Ferryboat Inn is located at Helford Passage (the other side of the river) and serves good food in a waterside setting. Trebah Gardens and Glendurgan Gardens (National Trust) are within walking distance of the ferry. Within a short drive are many spectacular beaches across The Lizard, such as Kynance Cove, Coverack, Kennack Sands, and Poldhu. The South West Coastal path runs through Helford and provides opportunities for walking in the immediate area, or you can drive further afield and park to explore different parts of the path on foot. Golfers can enjoy the stunning cliff top position of Mullion Golf Course. Those interested in sailing can join the Helford River Sailing Club for a day or a week and sail dinghies from Helford Point or St Anthony's Bay to explore the secluded coves.
