Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

1.1. "Booking" refers to the reservation of accommodation by the Guest.
1.2. "Guest" refers to the person or persons who make a Booking.
1.3. "Terms" refers to these Terms and Conditions.
1.4. "Website" refers to the The Shoregate’s website: www.theshoregate.com

2. Acceptance of Terms

2.1. By making a Booking, the Guest agrees to be bound by these Terms, as well as any additional policies or regulations mentioned on the Website or communicated by The Shoregate during the reservation process.

3. Booking and Payment:

3.1. Bookings can be made online through our website or over the phone. A valid Mastercard or Visa credit/debit card is required to secure the Booking. We do not accept Amex for room reservations.
3.2. A deposit, pre-authorisation or full payment may be required at the time of Booking depending on the rate booked. Upon check-in we will pre-authorise your card for any additional room fees and incidentals. We do not accept cash or cheques for room fees.
3.3. Special Requests: All special requests will be noted on the Booking. We will try our best to fulfil all requests, however, these cannot be guaranteed.
3.4. Shoregate Gift vouchers may be used as part payment to settle your account at the end of your stay, subject to our Gift Voucher Terms and Conditions.

4. Cancellation and Refund:

4.1. If the room rate you have booked allows for cancellations, then cancellations made 7 days prior to the scheduled arrival date will incur no charges. Cancellations made after this period will result in a charge equivalent to 50% of the total booking amount.
4.2. No-shows will be charged the full booking amount.
4.3. Refunds for cancellations will be processed within 5 business days from the cancellation date.

5. Check-In and Check-Out:

5.1. Check-in time is from 3PM.
5.2. Check-out time is before 11AM.
5.3. Requests for early check-in or late check-out are subject to availability and may incur additional charges.

6. Occupancy and Room Allocation:

6.1. The maximum occupancy per room is as specified on our website. Extra guests beyond the specified occupancy may not be accommodated.
6.2. Room allocation is subject to availability and may change due to unavoidable circumstances. If the room allocated is usually offered at a higher rate than the one booked, no additional fees will be payable. If the room allocated was available at a lower price at the time the booking was made, a refund of the difference will be made.

7. Damages and Losses:

7.1. Guests are responsible for any damage caused to hotel property during their stay, including fixtures, fittings, and furnishings. The cost of repairs or replacement will be charged to the guest's credit/debit card.
7.2. Make Up towels are provided for the removal of cosmetics. If cosmetics or tanning products cause staining to bedlinen or soft furnishings, we reserve the right to charge to your card the cost of extra cleaning or replacement.

8. Behaviour and Conduct:

8.1. Guests are expected to behave in a respectful and responsible manner, avoiding any behaviour that disturbs other guests.
8.2. The Shoregate reserves the right to refuse service or evict guests who engage in disruptive, offensive, or illegal behaviour.

9. Smoking and Vaping

9.1. Smoking and vaping is strictly prohibited in all indoor areas of The Shoregate, including guest rooms.
9.2. We will collect a one off charge of £200 to cover deep cleaning carpets, curtains and soft furnishings. If we are unable to subsequently let your room to the next guests because we are unable to deep clean it in time (for example: weekends, bank holidays or unavailability of staff), we reserve the right to additionally charge you our fully daily room rate for each night we are unable to let it.
9.3. The Shoregate reserves the right to refuse service or evict guests who have been smoking or vaping in the room, and charge the full balance of their stay in addition to the charges set out in 7.2.

10. Pets:

10.1. Pets are not allowed in our bedrooms, with the exception of assistant dogs as covered by the Equality Act 2010.
10.2. If you bring a pet into your room, we will collect a one off charge of £200 to cover deep cleaning carpets, curtains and soft furnishings.
10.3. If we are unable to subsequently let your room to the next guests because we are unable to deep clean it in time (for example: weekends, bank holidays or unavailability of staff), we reserve the right to additionally charge you our fully daily room rate for each night we are unable to let it.

11. Privacy and Data Protection:

11.1. The Shoregate collects and stores personal information in accordance with its privacy policy. By providing your information, you consent to its use for booking purposes and occasional promotional communications.

12. Liability:

12.1. The Shoregate is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury suffered by guests or their property during their stay.
12.2. A room safe is provided in your room.
12.3. We operate cctv in public areas and corridors for your safety and security.

13. Lost property

13.1. We will contact you as soon as possible if we find any items left behind in your room after you check out. We will store it for up to 7 days for collection. We can arrange to send any items on to you. Postage or courier charges will be charged to the credit or debit card you have authorised.
13.2. Whilst we will endeavour to return any lost property to you safely and swiftly, The Shoregate is not liable for any loss or damage to any items left behind.

14. Force Majeure:

14.1. The Shoregate shall not be held liable or responsible for any failure to perform its obligations due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and labour disputes.

15. Modifications to Terms:

15.1. The Shoregate reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions without prior notice.

16. Governing law

16.1. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
