Terms & Conditions

Our property has a policy of No Smoking and No Unannounced Pets.

If you are found to be in violation of either of these, you will be assessed a $300 fee or more for damages. Check-in time is 4:00 pm. We will be happy to check you in early if your room is available.

Check out time is 10:00am.

Due to Covid-19 our lobby is temporarily closed. Typically, our morning lobby hours were 7:30am to 10am and again from 2:45pm to 7pm in the evening. Please contact us to arrange a late check in should you plan to arrive after 7pm. This is important for you to let us know ahead of time if you will be arriving after our lobby is closed. Prior to Covid-19, a light breakfast was served from 7:30am - 9:30am on weekends. Coffee, tea and light snacks were available on request. Light refreshments may also be available in the evening from 4:30 to 5:30 (but currently they are not due to Covid-19.)

Also please note that the hotel is on septic and anything other than toilet tissue placed in the toilet stands a chance of causing a huge issue for us.

There are no additional taxes other than standard occupancy tax. There are no added fees or hidden surcharges. Direct reservations are confirmed by payment of your entire stay via our website or phone. All other channels (e.g. booking.com, etc.) require full payment in advance. A $300 security deposit authorization is required at check in. A valid ID must be presented at time of check in along with the credit card used to reserve online.

• No one in the party is feeling ill.
• No one in the party has been in recent contact with someone who is ill or shows signs of the Covid-19 illness.
• No one in the party is showing symptoms of Covid-19.
• Always maintain a 6-foot distance or more from others.
• Wash your hands often.
• Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough into your elbow.
• Wear a covering over your mouth and nose if you are unable to maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet.
• Follow all state and county guidelines before, during, and after your stay. We are located in a sensitive community of elders.

I will sign and leave these terms and conditions here in the little box at the front office area BEFORE I enter the room.

Cancellation Policy

As we are a small independent business, cancellations affect us greatly.

Therefore, all cancellations are subject to a minimum $100 ( per booked room) cancellation fee and are treated as follows:

In advance of 30 full days prior to arrival date - Refund of deposit, less the $100 cancellation fee.

Within two weeks from arrival - Refund of deposit based on our ability to resell your room(s), less the $100 fee.

A 30-day cancellation applies to all holidays, months of May/June/July/August/September/October and from mid November through January 15th.

EXCEPTION: Downieville Classic Week, Bamf Film Festival, New Year's week, and all Mountain Biking Festivals and Special Event reservations are paid in full, in advance, and are non-refundable.

Please be sure to acquire trip insurance in the event of unexpected illness, pandemic, death or weather related emergencies as we are not able to make an exception to this policy to keep our business sustainable.

Additional policies apply to group reservations of three or more rooms.

All cancellations must be provided to the innkeeper in writing at sonya@downievillecarriagehouse.com. You will receive any refund due within 30 days.
